summary / artwork
50˚N / 70˚N is a 3-screen installation shot on location in Siberia and in Melbourne. The work is a poetic re-telling of the exile and displacement of a religious group known as the Old Believers forced into extreme isolation through persecution due to their religious beliefs. Through an installation, the work explores the nature of displacement of the self and meditates on place, belonging and remembrance.
